The Investors Group Walk for Alzheimer's 2018

Gwen's Gang

Hi friends !

We're taking part in the Alzheimer's walk in Winnipeg this year and We thought We'd post here for anyone who might be interested in donating by sponsoring our team !

We've named ourselves Gwen's Gang because we're walking In memory of our Gram Gwen, who was suffering from Alzheimer's when she died. Our Grampa Jack is currently living with Dementia and for anyone who has had this disease affect a friend or family member, you know how horrible it can be. We are happy to be playing a small part in raising money for the research of these diseases.

Thanks for taking the time to read this and considering a donation

Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias

Dementia is a term that generally refers to a variety of brain disorders. Different physical changes to the brain cause different dementias. Some are reversible, meaning that they can be treated and cured, while others are irreversible, meaning there is no cure.

Symptoms worsen over time and include: loss of memory, changes in judgment and reasoning, dif culty performing familiar tasks, problems with language and changes in mood and behaviour.

Alzheimer’s disease is irreversible and eventually fatal. Other dementias include vascular dementia, frontotemporal dementia (including Pick’s disease), Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease and Lewy body dementia.

Dementia is not a normal part of aging, but age is the biggest risk factor.
